Join crafty naturalist Topher Stephens for this exciting afternoon of spoon carving in the lovely meadows of Edward Baker Preserve near Glenville, NC. We'll start with knife safety then progress into simple whittling techniques using straight blades and hook knives. Participants will learn to carve the bowl and handle of a simple wooden spoon from a Eastern Red Cedar blank. If time permits, participants will sand and finish their spoon with mineral oil.
No prior woodworking experience necessary.
What to Bring: Closed-toe shoes, durable pants (blue jeans for example), water, and snacks
This event is free and open to participants 18 and over.
Registration is required. Space is limited to 8 participants
