Join Highlands‑Cashiers Land Trust for a sunset and fluorescent lichen hike Satulah Mountain’s summit. Along the way, Stephane Contereras, HCLT’s Stewardship Manager and lichen enthusiast will reveal how fluorescent lichens come alive under blacklight, glowing in vivid yellows, oranges, reds, blues, and purples thanks to natural UV‑protective pigments At the top, explore historic stone shelter ruins and enjoy sweeping sunset‑to‑stars views across three states perched at 4,543 feet! Intermediate hikers should bring sturdy footwear, layers, water, snacks, a headlamp or flashlight. Join us for a glowing nighttime adventure under lichen‑lit forest and starry skies!
Hike: 3.5 miles round trip, considered strenuous.
